A Bit About Me

I currently serve as the Technical Manager and Adjunct Professor in the Film and Video Studies program at George Mason University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts, where my work centers on teaching, mentorship, and the integration of professional production practices into the classroom. I teach courses in cinematography and video production and support student learning across all stages of the filmmaking process.

In my teaching, I emphasize visual literacy, technical rigor, and collaborative production workflows, drawing on nearly 20 years of professional experience across film, television, theatre, and live events in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. My background as a grip, electrician, projection supervisor, and technical director allows me to contextualize theory through practice and to prepare students for the realities of professional production environments.

I actively mentor hundreds of students each year through coursework, production advising, and festival preparation, with a strong focus on inclusive pedagogy, accessibility, and professional readiness. As Technical Manager, I also oversee the equipment rental program, post-production facilities, and production infrastructure, managing an inventory of more than 1,000 assets valued at over $500,000. This role enables me to align curriculum, facilities, and technical systems in support of high-quality student work, including the annual exhibition of more than 140 student films at the Mason Film Festival.

I earned my M.F.A. in Photography in 2025, which informs my teaching through an expanded emphasis on image-making, authorship, and critical engagement with visual culture. I am deeply committed to supporting emerging artists, fostering diverse creative voices, and contributing to the growth of a rigorous, student-centered film program.
